Cicely Tyson & Soledad O’Brien To Visit South Dallas!

On Wednesday, February 22nd at 11:30am, St Philip’s School & Community Center will open its doors for the highly anticipated 17th Annual Destiny Awards luncheon. Each year thousands congregate to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to take part in the schools largest fundraiser featuring legendary talents from across the world to share life stories and words of encouragement.
Targeting “Oneness of Humankind” the Snyder Activity Center in Sunny South Dallas will host the 92 year old illustrious actress Cicely Tyson as she joins in dialogue on “Mentoring Peace Makers”. Moderated by award winning journalist + executive producer, Soledad O’Brien will certainly create great discourse. Ms. Tyson- a two time Emmy Award winner has earned many honors- including the Tony Award and Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor; not only for her acting abilities (The Help, How To Get Away With Murder) but also her community activism.
Accepting St. Philip’s 2017 Humanitarian Award is Dallas’ own Jewel and Roland Parrish (Founder of Parish McDonald’s Restaurants Ltd.) for their exceptional work towards promoting unity among diverse communities. “Jewel and I have watched St. Philip's grow and prosper. We will continue to be supporters of the school,” says Parish.
Following her How To Get Away With Murder costar Viola Davis, Cicely Tyson is sure to leave a historic mark in the cities South Dallas gem.
