Southern California-based Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar is open for business in the Lone Star State! Nestled in Addison, Texas it’s the perfect locale for a family friendly dining establishment.
Upon entry, the high spirited hostess, Leslie escorted my crew (Tilley and De’Andea) to our quaint wooden table. Once seated we were instantly drawn into the decor of the restaurant making us feel all cozy and cabin-ish.

Our waiter D’Ontay suggested we start off with their new Strawberry Peach Bourbon Smash and boy was it a SMASH! The rich flavor of bourbon, whiskey and peach juice fused perfectly. The Sangria Sampler was simply superb, served in a cast iron caddy with dog tags showcasing white peach, raspberry Moscato and pomegranate red flavors was the cutest little accent! For starters we snacked on the savory Brick Oven Spinach & Sundried Tomato Cheese Dip served with hand-cut seasoned corn tortilla chips.

Super elated to experience the launch of the new family style brunch menu, we couldn’t wait to dig in. Lazy Dog dished delight on a platter with the Housemade Carnitas + Tater Tot Hash- Braised pork shoulder, two poached eggs, country potatoes, sweet potato tater tots, roasted bell peppers, onions, American cheese, roasted poblano pepper sauce and fresh cilantro! My personal favorite.... I’m not super huge on sweet potato fries and that whole craze so it was surprising to enjoy the smash up of sweetness and explosion of flavors.
Next, I dipped into the Orange Marmalade French Toast. Served with vanilla bean cream cheese and topped with housemade orange marmalade. Oui, Oui! How soft and sweet! The french toast is splendid and the citrus orange marmalade sent my taste buds into overload.
From there I took a swipe of the Country Chickens & Biscuit. Crispy friend chicken, chicken sausage made from scratch, two sunny side up eggs and a housemade buttermilk biscuit topped with Cajun gravy spiced maple syrup. Not as flavorful as I had hoped but yet pretty fulfilling.

We caught up on D’s Florida antics and Tilleyisms as we chewed ourself into a food coma and became the LAZY DOGs. Then the manager Erika stops by and talks us into dessert (It wasn’t that hard). And boy were we happy she did! The award winning butter cake was MAGNIFICENT *French Accent* the best blend of butter and sugar I’ve ever tasted!
Lazy Dog is officially added to my “favorites” list. The unique grand lodge- inspired furnishings, oversized fireplaces and distinctive art deco will easily have you complacent and at ease. Lazy Dog should be on your "next spot to try” list. If you have a four legged friend, they’ll enjoy the dog friendly patio with a wonderful fire pit that offers a dog menu with grilled meats and brown rice.
