Take on math at 2THEXTREME: MATH ALIVE! at the Perot Museum!!

Meteorologists and students from St. Philips School and

Episcopol School of Dallas after the Xtreme Math Match

The Perot Museum just amazes me with the array of exhibits that are presented. The staff seems to always showcase exhibitions that afford new ways for kids to be involved in topics they may not usually take an interest in. This time they take on traveling math exhibit 2THEXTREME: MATH ALIVE!

Featuring 40 unique and interactive experiences guests get a chance to pedal to the peak in a mountain bike challenge, design a skateboard and perform a virtual Ollie, create a 3D video game, edit an animated movie, test their abilities on a rock-climbing wall and even control Curiosity, NASA’s next Mars rover. How cool is that?

Kicking off the new exhibit Dallas/Fort Worth TV meteorologists Evan Andrews – Fox 4; David Finfrock – NBC 5; Colleen Coyle – WFAA Channel 8; Jeff Jamison – CBS 11; Milmar Ramirez – Univision 23 and Kevin Roth – CW 33 were paired with local Dallas students from St. Philip’s School & Community Center and The Episcopal School of Dallas for an Xtreme Math Match hosted by Lou DiGioia, director of MATHCOUNTS, the national math competition organization it was a race to the buzzer to get the correct answer for multiple math questions (Both schools are local sponsors of the 2theXtreme: Math Alive! exhibition.)

Presented in English and Spanish this exhibit takes math from its native form into the fascinating applied worlds of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Presented nationally by Raytheon and sponsored by Time Warner Cable: Connect a Million Minds the exhibition runs Sept. 27, 2014, through Jan. 4, 2015, in the Jan and Trevor Rees-Jones Exhibition Hall.
