You've seen his work on Hollywood's top celebrities like Beyoncé, Lady GaGa, The Kardashians, Mary J. Blige, Toni Braxton and many more! Project Runway's Michael Costello hit the Adolphus Hotel in Dallas for a luxurious intimate brunch presented by Affiliated Clientele as part of "The Crowned Brunch" series titled "Deeper than the Dress: An intimate conversation with Michael Costello". Inside of the French Room, moderator Richard asked questions to the famed couture designer about how he started, what inspires him and keeps him going, how he gets over those trying times and so on. Our heavenly plates were served and he worked the room meeting and greeting guests before he hit the stage for a Q&A. Attendees include Naturalista Fashionista- Leah Frazier, the smooth Cynthia Smoot from OhSoCynthia, my spunky new pal Christian Craven, the clever Jasmine Crockett and my event designer for Vannaty Garden Rea of Rea Danielle Designs and her table of ladies that I’ve coined “Ladies who Brunch” yasssss! A few takeaways from Michael Costello were:
Don’t make the material do something it won’t. (i.e. If you are working with denim and you try to drape it, understand that it might not come out the way you envisioned)
When you are down, listen to your favorite pick me up song.
If he had an opportunity to dress any celebrity it would be JESUS (check the video to find out what type of garment it would be)
Beyonce, Lady GaGa, Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian were pretty easy to work with. It’s the housewives that give all the extraNESS!
I find it intriguing that he wants his work to embody a sophisticated woman (I think he hit the nail on the head), a go-getter, a woman that can make one call and get everything done!
After the Q&A we mingled with each other and took a group selfie! The Crowned Brunch was more than I thought it would be, a work of fashion genius! Kudos to you Affiliated Clientele!
