See what's so "Delishious" about Nice Work If You Can Get It at DSM!!

Dallas Summer Musicals closed the 2013/2014 season with a BANG! With a score by George and Ira Gershwin, a book written by Joe DiPietro, and based on material by Guy Bolton and P. G. Wodehouse Tony®-winning musical comedy Nice Work If You Can Get It is nothing short of entertaining! Running until September 14th, the musical is set in New York during the roaring 20s and follows a handsome, shortsighted, well-off Jimmy Winter (Alex Enterline) and a group of bootleggers who are looking for a place to hide 400 cases of gin. Jimmy and Billie Bendix (Mariah MacFarlane) fall in love but the problem is, she’s on the run and he’s married and engaged (a lot going on there huh?)

Nice Work If You Can Get It is full of spontaneous laughter, a comedic love story if you will. The belting voice of Duchess Estonia Dulworth (Stephanie Harter Gilmore) took me away! Every time she sang I got goose bumps! The costumes are glamorous and I definitely remembered a few pieces that I want to add to my personal collection. With most of the scenes taking place in the Long Island beach house the stage design is very well created and I loved the transitions from one room to the next. My favorite musical numbers were "Delishious" performed by Eileen, Bubble Girls and Boys (also full of surprises) and "Blah, Blah, Blah" performed by Duke and Jeannie.
