THE DALLAS FASHION & ART SHOW: MAN AS MACHINE

DFA.jpg

THE DALLAS FASHION & ART SHOW: MAN AS MACHINE blends fashion, art and technology. Executive Producer Kristin Colaneri brought about a very thought provoking presentation as I walked into the 333 1st Avenue Venue. Curated by Brandy Michele Adams of WAAS Gallery I was caught off guard by the life size artistic model displays and art by artist Jonathan Ramirez that put me in the mindset of something you will see on Game of Thrones (only one of my top 3 shows). The live body paint models who were in machine mode and walked the room taking photos with guests added to the experience.

Of course I ran into the ever so fashionable fashion designer Nic Moore and fashion enthusiast Cortney Guy. Took a pic with the Space Princess, Andrea Pearson who is such a breath of fresh air and was totally impressed with the eclectic selection of fashion designers. I love to see my favorite models Terina Smith, Ebony McKinney and Toriell Williams kill the runway as they do so effortlessly.

After the runway show there was a multi-media performance in conjunction with Contemporary Ballet Dallas, Bruce Wood Dancers, and a performance piece by Danielle Georgiou. The multi-media portion, was programed by Taylor Cleveland, including body-mapping and light projection. Mark Landson, the musical director and creator of Open Classical, led a live orchestra.

Kristin Colaneri states that “This year’s event is centered on the theme of ‘Man as Machine’. Man’s journey through time, space, and form from primitive to industrial to technological and beyond. How the ‘Life Force’ is pushing our direction and the current paradigm shift of the internet era in terms of ‘schema’ and Man’s relationship to it.”

Proceeds from “Man as Machine” went to benefit Family Gateway a Dallas nonprofit that focuses on family homelessness by providing care to homeless families with children.
