"Film is Bigger in Texas" says DIFF with a Star Studded Film Festival!!!

“Film is Bigger in Texas” and the Dallas International Film Festival sure held up to its slogan! Running its 8th year presented by AutoNation and a production of the Dallas Film Society the star studded film fest looks to promote local filmmakers on an international stage. This year DIFF featured 8 films in the Latino Showcase with over 150 films and select panels to view throughout the 11 day film fest. Aside from the films and panels you also have the opportunity to attend the Star Awards.

The Star Awards honors individuals who have made important contributions to shaping the face of modern cinema and the advancement of the art of film. Star award recipients include Oscar winning actor John Wayne (whose family took the award in his honor), Cheryl Boone Isaacs- President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and lastly animator Michael John Kricfalusi best known for Ren & Stimpy.

Directors, producers and stars to attend DIFF include David Gordon Green, Tye Sheridan, Heather Kafka, Luke Wilson, Kat Candler, Mauro Mueller, Jenna Jackson, Randall Wallace, T.D. Jakes, DeVon Franklin, Meagan Good, Greg Kinnear, Margo Martindale and a host of others!

The most talked about red carpet and movie of the season is Heaven is For Real, a film based on the #1 New York Times bestselling book Heaven is for Real. It’s about a small town father Todd Burpo, played by Emmy award winning actor Greg Kinnear and co staring Kelly Reilly as his wife Sonja Burpo who find themselves needing courage after a near death accident of their son Colton which now has him recounting things that happened before his birth. (Now in theaters)
